About Open Lectures

Open Lectures is an independent project. It shares complete courses that are ready to teach, for free.

Why

Many teachers must teach a subject with only a list of topics. Good slides are only half of a lecture. The other half is knowing what to say, where students get stuck, and how to use the time. Here, every slide comes with this knowledge written down. The English is kept simple, so that students and teachers who do not speak English as a first language can follow easily.

Independence

Everything here is written new for this site. It is not connected to, approved by, or copied from any university or institution. References point to published books and papers, mostly ones that are free to read online.

License

The text and our own figures use the CC BY 4.0 license. You may use, change and teach from them freely, if you give credit to "Open Lectures, lecture.williem.app". Photos and figures from books and other people keep their own licenses. Each one has a credit line; see the credits page.
